Greenville County Animal Care is seeking proposals for a contracted licensed veterinarian to work under the direction of the Medical Director of the Animal Care Clinic in Greenville, South Carolina, to provide the following scope of work:
Perform high volume, high quality spay-neuter surgeries for public and shelter animals, with a focus on community cats.
Complete pre-surgical animal health examinations as needed and provide follow up health care services for spayed and neutered pets.
Examine and treat shelter and citizen’s pets that are eligible to use the low-cost animal wellness clinic.
Diagnose animal health problems in shelter and public animals and prescribe medications as needed.
Provide other limited veterinary services, such as radiographs, dental care, heartworm treatments, soft tissue surgeries, etc.
Other reasonable veterinary duties and tasks needed to ensure best practices in animal shelter healthcare.
The veterinarian is expected to work sufficient hours each day to complete the scope of services, Mondays through Fridays, from 8:30AM – 5:00PM. The veterinarian must be licensed in the State of South Carolina to practice veterinary medicine and qualified and eligible to obtain a controlled substance license. Must have strong communication skills. Knowledge of shelter animal medicine is a plus.
