Super busy AAHA Veterinary Clinic in Arizona with an awesome hospital cat is looking for a skilled Veterinarian to join us on our adventure!
Do you like people (including clients), diagnosing vomiting dogs, treating unhappy cats, and helping old grey-muzzled pets? We know it’s a lot to ask, but we really want to find that one perfect person to fit our brand of crazy. Are you ready to learn new things and be challenged to stretch and grow (not break) as a veterinarian and human?
If so, then read on, we may have the role for you.
About Advanced Animal Care
Our Primary Veterinarian, Dr. Erika Cartwright, and Administrator, Jenn Galvin opened our hospital in 2012. It was an old clinic that sat empty for several years before they took it on. It was completely renovated and the latest and greatest toys have been added. Since then we have steadily grown, added two more doctors, and are excited to hopefully add more!
We have done this by focusing on looking after clients, each other and pets. We’re a tight-knit team. So, we’re looking for an associate who loves people and pets. We want someone that enjoys laughing with us, educating clients, and is ready to learn and help others learn too.
We’re not looking for someone who will work themselves into the ground because we care about each other as much as we care about pets and clients. Profit matters, but it’s not the most important thing to us. Our people come first, then pets, then clients - if we get this stuff right, then we know that money will look after itself.
So what can you expect from us?
We hold ourselves to a high standard. When we perform anesthetic procedures every patient gets a catheter, pain control, and we use up to date monitors, heating air warmers, and the best drugs available. During our dental procedures (we do a lot of these - so if you hate dentistry then don’t work here) we take radiographs every time. Our doctors perform surgical extractions, pain blocks, and even do orthodontics. We use the best, well-maintained equipment. We train and retrain our staff, note any problems, and review our practice policies in a no-blame way so it’s the safest it can be for our patients.
This is the way we approach our work. We aren’t perfect, but we try every day and a lot of days we get close (which makes us happy because safe, happy, healthy pets are why we get out of bed).
We want humble team-mates that know how to have fun. We don’t expect you to be perfect; we’re all learning, growing and moving forward. And we want to work with people who push us to get better, who call us out when we might be wrong, and gently steer us back in the right direction.
We’re a small practice, but we offer a package that includes a competitive salary with Pro-Sal opportunity, CE allowance, paid dues and memberships, paid time off, health insurance contribution, 401k match, pet care discounts, a 4 day work week, and uniform allowance. As a permanent member of the team, you’ll have access to these benefits.
We need you full time and we are open on weekends. We currently see appointments and perform surgeries Sunday through Thursday. There are on call responsibilities that rotate every other week on Fridays and Saturdays to share, but you’ll only get calls from our technicians that need your help. You also don’t come in for emergencies overnight.
What we want from you…
We are looking first and foremost for someone who can fit our team culture and values. You’ll have a great way of making clients feel comfortable and welcome in our clinic. You’ll also have confidence in your own abilities.
There are a few other things we need:
We want you to be our patient’s advocate.
We want you to be willing to learn and grow.
We want you to help others in the team learn and grow.
We want you to be willing to be amazing.
We want you to leave your outside issues at the door.
We want to laugh and cry with you at the stuff we have to deal with.
We want to be able to have a beer (or other drink of preference) with you.
We want you to accept that you are not perfect, that none of us is and that's okay.
We want you to be happy.
We want you to understand that we care deeply about helping you get where you want to go and become who you can be.
If you can do that, we'd be very, very proud to call you a teammate.
(And if you can be that, or be willing to work towards it.... could you also never leave?)
Thanks for reading.
