Type & Experience Level:
Full Time - One to seven years

Brevard Spay-Neuter Clinic is a busy spay/neuter/wellness clinic in the Melbourne and Palm Bay area in Florida. We are located on the Indian River Lagoon, 6 miles from the ocean and 10 miles from the St. John’s River.
This busy nonprofit spay-neuter clinic was started by a veterinarian who is planning to retire. We need a passionate and compassionate veterinarian to continue this important mission in Brevard as the responsible veterinarian. We also need a part-time veterinarian for four 5-hour days.
Our facility is 3,000 square feet with 1,000 square feet dedicated to a surgery prep area and to a surgery suite.
We are open Monday through Thursday from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm. Pre-anesthetic exams from 8:00 to 8:30, surgery from 8:30 to 2:00, and wellness exams from 3:00 to 5:00 are provided each day. We perform 22-28 spays and neuters, and 8-10 wellness exams per day with our present veterinarian.
The part-time veterinarian would provide 3 hours of wellness exams from 9:00 to 12:00 and 2 hours of surgery from 12:30 to 2:30 each day.
When we do not have a full schedule of spays and neuters we schedule dentistry, tumor removals, and any other surgery the veterinarian feels confident to provide. We presently schedule entropions, conjunctival flaps, enucleations, fracture repair, amputations, cystotomies, perineal urethrostomies, extractions, and tumor removals.
Our primary mission is to drive down county impoundment admissions:
by offering lower-cost spays and neuters to the lower-income public and to non-profit groups that fund the no-income public.
by providing preventive health programs and medical/surgical treatment to animals being fostered by compliant non-profit groups--animals are housed in private homes until they are fully vetted and ready for adoption.
Our secondary mission is to encourage pet retention and relieve pet suffering:
We provide lower-cost surgeries and medical care to the lower-income public for most common treatable problems that relieve a pet’s suffering.
If people who care for their animals cannot afford a procedure that will potentially cure the pet’s problem, we will attempt to find funding to help them.
SALARY from $85,000 to $120,000 for full time
Base salary for 40 hours is $85,000 and for 20 hours is $42,500, but if experienced, efficient, and motivated in surgery and medicine, more is attainable through a Pro-Sal commission.
Job Type: 20 or 40 hours per week as desired.
